John and Jan: locations and backstory.

1. In the Mercedes G on the way to the airport with Barbara and Chloe, day.

2. Later, with Barbara at winery, Hunter's call re Tom. Chloe will call later, John re getting Tom's middle name.

3. Next day, power-walk in their affluent rural Paso Robles neighborhood. John, via Tom's middle name Travis, has found where Tom and Wanda live. Exchange re decades-previous coal litigation in Cheyenne. The Jag in the driveway. Barbara's forwarded Chloe and Tom selfie.

4. Later, at home, sunset, Barb's forwarded -from-Chloe White Sands sunset.

5. Next day, playing golf with Barbara and Brian. Hunter's call re Tom.

6. Later, with Barbara and Chloe re Hunter's itinerary.

7.  Next day, with Barb, Jan and John on boat, Lake Nacimiento, re Ruth's story.

8. Months later. Chloe's birthday truck. 

Retired attorneys. John an environmental litigator, Jan personal law and estate management, practiced in San Francisco, raised Barbara in Mill Valley.  On their uphill power-walk John sports his Stanford cap, Jan's her Berkeley Bear.  We meet their new Mercedes G-wagon taking Chloe to the airport, and the old BMW in the driveway when they finish their power-walk.
